Winter Style Roundup: Cute and Comfy Shoes

Today we are switching gears from our healthy living series to talk about easy winter style. Since it’s cold-weather season, I’m doing a roundup of some of my favorite stylish and comfortable shoes, and by style, I really just mean shoes that are both comfortable AND cute. These are the best winter shoes for busy moms and women who are on their feet all day long!

When we enrolled my daughter in public school after 4 years of homeschooling, I started substitute teaching at my kid’s elementary school. Sometimes I subbed for a teacher for the day and other times for the entire week, but I quickly learned the importance and necessity of wearing comfortable shoes!

Their school started at 7:45, so I would often arrive at school at 6:50 with all three of my kids in tow. Oh my word. Let me just say that teachers have ALL the praise hands over here. Teaching is a really hard job and I have so much respect for all they do in a school year! I loved getting to step in for my kid’s teachers, but being on my feet from 5 am to 3 pm and then running home to pull together sports uniforms, make dinner, help with homework and be off at a practice or game warm-up by 4:30, if I didn’t wear shoes with some cushion, my feet were so fatigued by the end of the day. Whether you are a nurse, a teacher, or a busy mom, comfort is essential when you are running around all day, so here are a few of the best winter shoes for moms!

Shoe Roundup

1 | Sketchers Women’s Zip Bootie Fashion Boot

If I could pick only one pair of shoes to wear all winter long. These would be it. They are my absolute favorite. You feel like you are walking on little fur-lined clouds all day, but they are lightweight, supportive, and wear beautifully (so if you are looking for something heavy and rigid, like a Dansko or a firm-bed Birkenstock, this is not for you!). I was so surprised by these booties, but now they are my go-to for school drop-offs in 12 degree weather and for errand running! I have them in a size 8 and there is plenty of room to put a nice sock inside so I wouldn’t size up. This picture is after months of regular wear.

2 | Sorel Snowboot

When it comes to snowboots, I like something less chunky and these fit the bill. They are the slimmer, lighter version of the Joan of Arctic boot, so they aren’t as heavy duty, but I have had mine for years and they still look like new. I wear them all the time. I sized up a half size and I’m glad I did so that I can fit warm socks without my toes feeling stuffed and I also keep a pair of my favorite running shoe insoles in them so that I can take long walks in comfort.

If you tromp through heavy snow, slushy puddles, or will be out for hours in the snow regularly, the Joan of Arctic would be a better fit, but these have been a great boot for our lifestyle since aside from sledding and winter walks I don’t do a lot of tramping through the snow in the winter! My feet have never once gotten wet in these–though I also don’t slog through puddles, so there’s that.

Here are a few other super cute boot options. Love all of these for keeping your feet warm and dry when it’s cold!

3 | Wedge Ankle Booties

These are such a versatile style and color–waterproof and a really pretty suede leather. (The boot is in the color quarry which is 25% off right now and gets rave reviews.)

4 | Lexie Boot

This is such a fun winter look with lots of different boot and lace combos! Super cute with a sage quilted jacket and leggings!

5 | Joan Boots

6 | Brianna Bootie

These booties are by Dr. Scholls and have a really comfortable memory foam insert in them. I have these in gray and black.

My Favorite Workout Shoes & Insoles

I’m a huge Brooks fan. These shoes are super sleek and a fun color for anything active, as well as running around town and taking long walks with friends. I’ve been wearing this line for about 7 years in different styles and colors. They are a neutral shoe, so make sure you know what kind of support your foot needs. My feet pronate, so I also use this insert that a podiatrist recommended to me. This combination gives me the perfect amount of support without overcorrecting. Here is a great article on pronation if you aren’t sure whether your feet are neutral, pronate, or supinate.

These exercise insoles were recommended by an excellent podiatrist, who also wears them, and now I use them for anything and everything active! I used to wear Superfeet (berry), which can also be a great option, but I like these better because they are slim and supportive but not rigid. I replace these every time I replace my running shoes!

Stay cozy this winter!
