Coffee Date & Christmas Shopping (Getaway, Part 2)

I’m pretty sure my love language is a really great espresso drink and a breakfast sandwich. I am 100% not a fancy dinner date type girl. I love a good pub with a burger and fries and don’t tend to love the meals at fancy restaurants. Although, with girlfriends, sharing small plates at a nicer restaurant or ordering a bunch of appetizers to share for dinner can be such a fun way to go, but with my husband, we love a good breakfast date! Needless to say, our day 2 start was perfect. We headed to Woods Coffee for the BEST oat milk mocha and breakfast burrito. It’s a family-owned and run company on the westside of Washington that makes their own mocha syrup and it is just so delicious. I could talk about it all day–but I won’t.

Their breakfast burritos are such a treat.

Trader Joes

After breakfast, we headed over to Trader Joes to check out all the fun seasonal goodies and snap a few up for the holiday season.

They had some really fun advent calendars–12 days of beauty and Jolly Joe-cuterie calendars that would be perfect for a teen girl or culinary enthusiast.

Lots of pumpkin and peppermint goodies, gingerbread and winter blend coffees, holiday cards, and even iced gingerbread coffee dunkers.

I was thrilled to find these fun baking mixes and practically cleared the shelf–well, not really, but I did buy a lot of them! Such a fun Christmas mix to add to a gift basket, give as part of a hostess gift, or wrap up in cellophane with fun pens, list pads, or a coffee card for a teacher.

They had this one too, but since I have a go-to gingerbread recipe and my family doesn’t love ginger snap-type flavors, I passed on this mix.

Home Goods

After TJs, Steve went to REI and Best Buy and then back to the hotel to watch basketball, while I went to browse Home Goods. Oh my, I love that place. I found a great wreath and a few other fun Christmas items to add to our collection for this year. This sign was cracking me up–can anyone relate?

I found quite a few variations of this festive porch planter and thought it would be pretty easy to re-create this look by combining different elements–branches, evergreen or holly stems–you already have on hand and an extra planter or tall vase sitting in storage. You could also thrift some of these pieces to create your own unique look. I love decor that is clean and polished and not so Christmasy that you can’t use it all winter long and this fits the bill.

Here is another version…

Whole Foods

Our last stop before we needed to head home to get our pup from the boarder and the kids from their grandparents was Whole Foods. I’m one of those weird people that loves a specialty grocery store and all the healthy foods packaged up so cute! If I could get a Whole Foods salad every day, I absolutely would. I filled mine up with fresh spring greens, shredded carrot and then mixed in roasted cauliflower, butter chicken, an olive, pea, orzo salad, artichoke hearts, and a little balsamic vinaigrette to top it off. So good.

We polished off our lunches, checked out of our hotel and headed back over the pass. Such a fun, relaxing trip with lots of time to talk and reconnect. Pretty sure we will be back for another pre-Christmas getaway next November!
